Psalm 107:20 "He sent out his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction."
Jesus can change lives and restore families even when people are not actively seeking Him.
Our prayer for our sons is for God to "Send His Word" to change their hearts, heal their family, and return to Him.
Here are a few biblical examples where Jesus changed people's lives without being explicitly asked to do it:
Saul, later known as Paul, was on his way to Damascus to arrest Christians when he was suddenly met by a blinding light and the voice of Jesus asking, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" This encounter, which Saul did not initiate, led to his conversion, his sight being restored by Ananias, and his subsequent life dedicated to spreading the Gospel.
Zacchaeus, a chief tax collector who was despised for being a collaborator with Rome and imposing harsh taxes, climbed a sycamore tree to see Him. Jesus initiated the encounter by telling Zacchaeus to come down. This unexpected visit led to Zacchaeus's transformation, where he decided to give half of his possessions to the poor and repay those he had defrauded fourfold. Jesus declared, "Today salvation has come to this house" (Luke 19:9), indicating a profound life change.
Jesus saw Matthew sitting at the tax booth and simply said, "Follow me." Without any recorded request from Matthew, he immediately left his work, got up, and followed Jesus. This act of following Jesus radically altered Matthew's life, leading him to become one of the twelve apostles and later the author of one of the Gospels.
Jesus saw a man blind from birth and decided to heal him, an act not initiated by the man's request but by Jesus' own initiative. After healing him with mud made from spit, the man's life changed dramatically, leading to his eventual belief in Jesus as the Son of Man.
Jesus saw Simon Peter and Andrew casting a net into the lake and told them to follow Him, promising to make them "fishers of men." Similarly, He called James and John while they were mending nets. None of them asked to be disciples; Jesus simply invited them, leading to their transformation from fishermen to obedient disciples.
Jesus changes lives!
